Part 12 | Building a Film Production Company as an Indie Filmmaker

Whew, what a huge relief it is typing this, because darling, it’s with enormous joy in my heart that I inform you all that we are officially wrapped with production!
My team and I travelled to Ibadan with our lead cast and the rest of the crew, and we achieved the following:
- Shot a 106-page feature film script in 8 days. Yes, you read that correctly, eight freaking days
- Travelled to 10 different locations to achieve our picture
- Fed and accommodated 40 crew members and staff
- Managed 200 background extras
- Had over 300 slates during production
- Only one medical emergency required a hospital visit

A couple of random shots from my phone, I guess we could call it BTS.

It’s after the holidays now, and I’m almost drawing blanks trying to recall whatever happened on set, but I’ll say this. As hectic as it was, I am glad my crew felt intimate, and I am very proud of the environment we created for everyone to be themselves, do their work, and also respect one another.
In the coming weeks, I am hoping to get some much-needed rest, spend some time with my loved ones and also watch over first cuts as we are officially in post-production!!
How wild is that? We are in post-production for my baby… almost three years in the making, and at this point, I would like to pivot this series to what I learned producing my first film! Unlike this current one, which was a monthly catch-up, I’d like this to be quarterly.
I gotta say, though, on a little personal note, I am quite proud of myself for maintaining this series. It was a bit of a struggle in some months, but I pulled myself up because I made a commitment. And you know what? This may be the very first time I have been this consistent on my blog for a very long time, and I am particularly happy about that. Kudos to me!
I do genuinely thank you for spending these weeks with me, and as we continue to the next chapter, I do hope you join me. I will be sharing the most nitty-gritty experiences I have had behind it all, mentorship conversations, industry struggles, budgets & finances and dealing with disappointments and so much more.
In the meantime, I wish you a very very happy new year and a productive month each month!
Cheers mate.
