Part 11 | Building a Film Production Company as an Indie Filmmaker

Considering these posts reflect what/how the previous month was, I guess I could give you a little insider scoop by letting you know that Melon House shot her first feature film!!!
But before we jump the gun… here are a few events that led up to this achievement.
- Our first media mention on WKMUP
- Had our final table read with the entire cast
- Had a pre-production meeting with the HODs
- Made a full instalment for camera and light equipments
- Got to see the Director’s shot-list and discussed a few ideas
- Traveled to Ibadan with our main cast and director
- Began rehearsals
- Production kicked off
In an unexpected turn of events, my Production Manager got arrested. It was super devastating because once again, the Nigerian Police Force was proving to not only be problematic but working to an individual pay for the rich. My team and I were able to get a few contacts that could assist, and the case was resolved, but not without some palm greasing and physical harm to my PM.
Super glad that is behind us, but it honestly should’ve been a deterrent for what the coming weeks had in store for us.
I am writing this post today from a place of relief, although shaken to my core… I am glad this bit of production is over, and I hope to have the energy to write about it on our next catch-up!
Thanks so much for sticking with me. We are one more release from making this a full year of updates.
Have a lovely day.
