29 Aug Playlist: Gerry’s Tears
In the spirit of getting my creativity back to who I truly am, I thought to curate a playlist for you all. Here are Gerry’s Tears, songs I listen to when I feel low and just want to sing my heart out.
Music for me is everything and fun fact, I used to write songs in the hopes of being an artiste someday. I listen to music every single day; in a way, it is the reason for my living.
I hope you enjoy these fifty-two minutes of Gerry’s Tears and that you somehow find relief at the end.
What’s Up
One of my favourite ways of discovering new artistes to listen to is through movies because they always just have a special memory in my heart.
Watching Sense8 a few years ago, a science fiction drama that focuses on eight strangers around the globe who find themselves connected — first by a violent vision, then by their shared ability to communicate with one another’s thoughts and actions; it quickly became my favourite show.
What’s Up is a song that connected them and they all sang together at their various locations. If you’ve watched this show, just know I love you.
Written and sung by 4 Non Blondes, I of course have to open this playlist with this amazing song.
Happy Fucking Birthday
Got introduced to this song through someone’s social and it has since been a go-to whenever I need to remember to breathe.

Moral Of The Story
This was the first song of Ashe that I listened to, thank goodness for apple music’s infinite recommendations. She is my kind of artist and I just love her for it.
Listening to this track makes me feel comforted and I hope you feel the same.

Anxiety
I am not one to diagnose myself with any condition but if there is one thing I know about myself, it is that I have bad anxiety.
Megan Thee Stallion said it best when she said “I’m a bad bitch, and I got bad anxiety”.
This track makes me feel seen in my feelings and loneliness.
Sung by the beautiful Julia Michael and Selena Gomez
Can We Kiss Forever?
A TikTok hit? most definitely. However, unlike a lot of hits on the platform, I took a listen to this one and it stuck with me. The instrumentals are calming.

Exile
My introduction to music and inspiration as a songwriter was from Taylor Swift. I think she is one of the greatest songwriters and artistes to grace this earth and I am a proud Swifty.
Exile is one of the songs on her album Folklore and the melodies on this song are just perfect. It features Bon Iver.
No Time To Die
I cannot possibly put together a playlist and not include Billie Eilish, she is a force. No Time To Die is the soundtrack for James Bond’s No Time To Die 2021.
Billie is a clear example of staying in your lane and I just love it.
Happier Than Ever
I mean if we are going to feature Billie Eilish on a playlist, we might as well make it two tracks.
Happier Than Ever is one of my favourite songs from her most recent album. I enjoy how it takes you through a calm and then chaos. The perfect song to vent with.
Best Days
One thing I love is listening to artistes that aren’t necessarily mainstream and Alessia Cara is a great one to have a blast with. Her album In The Meantime is my favourite to listen to when I’m in a mood.
You Let Me Down
Another favourite from Alessia, because if you’re listening to one you should hear two.
Hope Ur Ok
I have a thing for songs where artistes express their loss of love to life or maybe death and Olivia Rodrigo captures it so well on this track.
Listening to this reminds me of my friends from high school and all others with who we’ve drifted apart in recent years. As much as we do not talk anymore, I hope you are okay.
Happier
There’s no way we can talk about Gerry’s Tears and not mention some heartbreak songs. Happier is probably one of my favourite songs as it gets me so emotional and I hope you see why when you get to listen.
Artiste: Olivia Rodrigo
I Drink Wine
The title of the song alone is legendary. I Drink Wine is my top two favourite tracks on Adele’s 30 album.
A lyric that sticks with me is “stop trying to be somebody else”.
To Be Loved
I am going to wrap this playlist with this song because I truly pray that after the tears and pain you feel, you have someone to take care of you.
There is no greater feeling than knowing that you are loved back. Also sung by Adele.
Bonus Track: Moon by Kanye West
Thank you for reading and most of all listening to Gerry’s Tears Playlist.
Love,
Gold Gerry.
