14 May To Azealia Banks
I just watched the interview Azealia Banks had on the Breakfast Club, well I skipped down to the most talked about part of it which is about Cardi B (thanks to someone in the comments section). Now I usually wouldn’t do this,I could have my opinion and just keep it to myself, talk to my friends about it and never take it the blog but this particular interview struck a nerve and obviously topics like this and ladies in the music industry are in one way or another helping mold our perception in life. So here we are…

Okay back to the interview. What I gathered from the few minutes I listened is the mere fact that Azealia Banks has a problem with a movement and not a person. She’s talking about how great conversations that started with Beyonce,Solange and other notable women in the industry has been reduced down to ‘this’ in reference to Cardi B’s popularity in the media, rap and artistry in general. She also goes on to say that it isn’t about a race/colour but she still leaves subliminal meanings in the things that she says. Azealia you can’t say that what you’re talking about isn’t about race/colour and then later imply that its the colour of your skin and the problems you created couple months ago that make people not listen to your music, invite you for shows, have deals with you and the rest of it.So great conversations started 2 years ago according to your timeline/knowledge and now its being led by ‘an illiterate and an untalented rat’ who is being excused for how bad she spells and talks.
Now listen,no movement is successful without the inclusion of everybody. I mean isn’t that the diversity we’re all preaching and agitating for? Diversity isn’t just bound to race, colour and gender but also includes classes, literacy, disabilities and much more. Just because someone doesn’t speak great English doesn’t mean they can’t be a leader of people. The Feminity movement for freedom to be ourselves isn’t just limited to those that attended great schools or maybe had the best tutors;it is for every single person because you know what-its not just the people in the greatest schools that have vaginas, people in public schools do too. At the end of the day,we all face the same bullshit cause we’re girls not because of our English or how loud we can get. The movement isn’t failed,it is called an expansion Azealia!.
Your merely vexed that Cardi B is probably the most talked about female rapper right now,but who cares right? I bet you do. So accept it and move on or maybe do not accept and just peacefully wait for someone else to come along in hopes she spells right/better since that seems to be the only problem you have with Cardi. Dont go around hiding your hate for someone in a sensitive discussion just to get people to listen to you,its pathetic. If you want to speak on feminity, speak on feminity. If you want to speak on race/colour go ahead do just that but don’t go implying that someone shouldn’t be listened to just because her English isn’t so polished or because you both pass messages across differently. It just makes you look stupid and bitter.
A simple advice- The little head you said they let you put in this time in the industry, you had better watch it and stop talking about people, else it gets cut off entirely.
Bye now,
Gold.
